On A Mission Devotional: H.O.P.E in the Struggle

Jun 23, 2018

Hello all, sorry I have not published anything for the last couple of weeks. There is a lot of change happening at the Mission lately. God is up to some big things at Cookeville Rescue Mission (CRM). However, God’s big happenings begin with small changes. These small changes take place one after another building up to the BIG accomplishment. Change can be a hard, frustrating, and overwhelming struggle at times. On the flip side, change can be an exciting challenge and a great time to grow in different aspects of our lives. I want to offer you an acronym to carry with you as your life ebbs and flows. I want to encourage you with H.O.P.E. in the struggle.

Healing through Jesus. Jesus is our hope through the struggle of change. Through change many of us will find the beginning of the healing process and our decision to let Jesus into our lives is the key to finding healing (Matthew 12:15; John 14:6; 1st Peter 1:3).

Opportunity to live the abundant life that Jesus offers. Through change, we are given the opportunity to grow, learn, and to live a life of peace, joy, and contentment. Every day Jesus gives us this opportunity (Psalm 16:11; John 10:10).

Passion for Jesus, others, and life can be found through change. We may find a passion for reading, writing, music, or classic cars. We can find a passion to live a more abundant life in Jesus (Mark 12:29-31; Acts 13:52).

Encouragement to succeed. In change, we will need encouragement from others and we will need to encourage others. Reach out to those who have gone before you to find encouragement and wisdom to succeed. Reach out to those who are just beginning the process of change. You have experience and wisdom that will encourage someone else on their journey (1st Thessalonians 5:11).
