Before coming to the Cookeville Rescue Mission our family was at the end of our rope. After months of promising my fiancé Kenny that I would go to rehab and get the help that I needed for my addiction and never following through the promises I had made. On December 8, 2018 everything to me had seemed to fall apart. Kenny left with one of our daughters and went and sought for help from his family. Our daughter went to stay with his brother and his family and he came to the Rescue Mission. Within the next week I had a visit from a DCS case worker whom had received a referral in concerns about drug abuse in the home, I signed power of attorney of all 3 of our daughters to family and made the decision to go and finally get the help that I needed because now had I not only lost my relationship with my fiancé but I was also losing my daughters if the chaos of drug addiction did not stop, this put a whole new meaning to “rock bottom”.
On December 15, 2018 I traveled to Knoxville, TN and checked into Journey Pure-Serenity Woman’s Center a 28 day trauma based drug rehabilitation program. Upon completely that program I went to a halfway house in Knoxville although I was clean from drugs the halfway house was not the environment that I expected or had hoped for it to be.
Before coming to the Cookeville Rescue Mission our family was at the end of our rope.
After a couple of weeks of talking to Kenny and him sharing with my the hope that he had found in Jesus Christ while being here in the Life Transformation Program at the mission I made the decision to come here in hope of joining the program myself. I wanted what he had found here. On February 11, 2019 I joined the Life Transformation program. Since then the Lord blessed us and our family in so many ways. The Lord has restored our relationship and we are now happily married. The Lord is also restoring the relationship with our children, our DCS case has since been closed and we now have our daughters here with us as we continue with the Life Transformation Program. I am also leading the 12 step group for women here as well. Kenny and I are both going into Phase 3 of the program and starting to look forward to graduating and taking the tools that we have gained from the program and applying them into our life and the lives of our children. We continue to pray for not only strength but also for guidance from the Lord it is because of him that we have made it as far as we have in our recovery and with him alone all things are possible.
