Recently the Cookeville Rescue Mission took part in Genesis Counselor’s Training. Genesis is a Christian based program created in the late ‘90’s by Certified Addiction Counselor, Michael Dye. The majority of homeless people coming to the Mission for help point to drug and alcohol addiction as the beginning of their homeless journey. Therefore, the Cookeville Rescue Mission is finding it increasingly necessary to educate its staff and volunteers in how to counsel addicts, recognize the cycles of addiction, and identify if someone is on the verge of relapse. The one week intensive interactive training was conducted via Zoom and included participants from across the country. See if you can pick out the smiling faces representing CRM. (Hint – they’re all wearing blue shirts!)
